Some of the signs that your pet may need urgent medical attention include:

  • Difficulty breathing
  • Ingestion of a toxic substance or foreign object
  • Broken bones
  • Cuts, lacerations or puncture wounds
  • Vomiting or diarrhea lasting longer than 24 hours
  • Bleeding
  • Trauma, such as from a fall or being hit by a car
  • Swollen or tender abdomen
  • Difficulty urinating
  • Lameness

If you notice any of these signs, seek professional help right away. At Germantown Veterinary Clinic, we strongly recommend calling ahead when an emergency occurs. This allows us to evaluate the situation, provide first aid instructions and prepare for your pet’s arrival.
