Jennie

Jennie

Practice Manager

One day, Jennie decided to stop by Germantown Veterinary Clinic to weigh her growing English Mastiff puppy. The head technician was extremely impressed by the puppy’s manners, and struck up a conversation with Jennie. The next thing she knew, she was being interviewed for a position at the clinic!

Jennie loves the veterinary field because it allows her to act as an advocate for animals. She loves helping clients and relishes seeing their beloved pets get better. Jennie also enjoys whenever the practice receives a litter of baby kittens, since the entire staff gets involved with feeding and caring for them.

A native of Maryland, Jenne grew up an avid horseback rider. Today, she’s the proud owner of two rescue cats named Gucci and Vera.

Kim

Kim

Veterinary Technician

Kim grew up on a farm, where she was surrounded by horses, cows, dogs, cats and pigs. In addition to this, she had a mother who was a veterinarian. When you combine both of these facts about her upbringing, it’s easy to understand why she wanted to work with animals when she grew up. As a veterinary technician at Germantown Veterinary Clinic, she’s not only able to help out animals on a daily basis, she’s also able to be around the furry creatures she loves!

There are several things that Kim enjoys about her job, but she especially loves performing x-rays and ultrasounds on animals. She also relishes the opportunity to interact with clients about their life, as she hopes to learn from their experiences while hoping they can learn from hers.

When she’s not busy helping animals at the clinic, you can find Kim at home being a dog mom to her energetic 8-year old canine.

Yona

Yona

Veterinary Technician

Like most of her colleagues, Yona always knew she wanted to work with animals. It came as no surprise, then, that she would end up pursuing a career in the veterinary field. It wasn’t until a particular moment, however, when a doctor she was assisting correctly guessed the diagnosis of a patient, that her passion for veterinary medicine was officially ignited. Today, Yona brings that same passion to each and every patient interaction, delivering clinical care with a personal touch.

Prior to joining the Germantown Veterinary Clinic team in 2018, Yona spent just shy of 10 years working for a veterinary neurologist. In her role as veterinary technician, she enjoys the day to day variety the job offers. She may start the day in an appointment then be running bloodwork, placing a catheter, monitoring anesthesia, or filling medications. Professionally, Yona has a special interest in anesthesia and neurology.

Outside of the clinic, Yona and her husband have two cats, Solo and Key, and a Boxer/Pit mix named Gator. In her spare time, Yona enjoys hiking with Gator, practicing yoga, swimming, horseback riding, and reading.

Rachel

Rachel

Veterinary Technician

Unlike many of her colleagues, Rachel didn’t start out in the veterinary industry. In fact, she initially began her career as an EMT with the local fire department. She quickly came to realize, however, that human medicine was not nearly as interesting or challenging as veterinary medicine, and decided it was time to make a change. As a veterinary technician, Rachel is able to apply her skills to in-depth cases and enjoy the many rewards that come with caring for our four-legged friends.

In 2018, Rachel landed a job at VetMed, where she focused on expanding her knowledge and gaining valuable hands-on experience. She joined the Germantown Veterinary Clinic in 2019 and hasn’t looked back since. Professionally speaking, Rachel has a special interest in blood draws and catheter placement, as both can be challenging. She also enjoys assisting with surgery and monitoring anesthesia.

Outside of work, Rachel has a few animal companions of her own, including a sassy and opinionated horse named Boonesborough (a.k.a. Boonsie), who would do anything for a blueberry breakfast biscuit. She also has two fish, an Albino and Tiger Oscar, both of whom are nosy and enjoy nibbling at any fingers that enter their tank. Rachel’s favorite pastimes include paddle boarding, hiking, shark tooth hunting, and fishing.

Jen

Jen

Client Service Representative

Jen is someone who has always loved animals. So when the opportunity to apply for a position as a client service representative at Germantown Veterinary Clinic popped up, she eagerly went for it. She relishes the ability to build relationships with her furry clients and watch them grow from puppies to seniors!

A native of Maryland, Jen grew up with her parents, younger sister and her childhood dog, Midnight. Today, she’s a dog mom to a young spaniel/German Shepherd mix named Charley. Charley is a fast learner who is extremely smart and has the ability to destroy toys in record time.

When Jen has some free time, you can catch her trying out new food spots, since she’s an avid foodie. She also enjoys going to the beach, hunting for shark teeth and loves tasting a good latte.

Shannon

Shannon

Client Service Representative

Shannon has always loved animals, but unlike many of her colleagues, she didn’t initially set out to work in the veterinary field. In fact, after attending college for athletic training, it was Walt Disney World that first caught her interest. Over time, however, she began feeling the itch to change careers. As it turns out, an animal clinic was truly the happiest place on earth for Shannon!

In 2019, Shannon moved from Florida to Maryland to be with her now husband, Dustin. She joined the Germantown Veterinary Clinic in 2021 and has since become an integral part of the team. In her role as receptionist, Shannon gets to greet our clients and patients, make them feel welcome, and set the tone for a positive interaction with the rest of the staff.

At home, Shannon and Dustin have two pups of their own: Milo and Figaro (a.k.a. Figgy), who love to cuddle and play together. Figgy is pretty go-with-the-flow but does have a wild side. Milo’s quiet, reserved nature makes him an excellent listener.

Shannon’s personal interests include sports and traveling. So far, she has visited Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France and the UK. A voracious reader, Shannon goes through about 50 books a year, mostly on her beloved Kindle, as it makes for less clutter.

Lisa

Lisa

Customer Service Representative

Growing up an only child in a military family, Lisa was used to moving around a lot. She was never lonely, though – thanks to her two Siberian huskies and German shepherd. They were a small, but very close-knit family, and having pets by her side made Lisa feel safe and accepted, wherever they happened to be. Their companionship over the years ultimately inspired Lisa to pursue a career in animal care.

Lisa’s journey began in high school, when she landed a job at a grooming facility. Shortly thereafter, she moved on to a doggie daycare and boarding facility, where she stayed for a bit before joining the Germantown Veterinary Clinic team in 2016. Professionally, Lisa appreciates the fact that every day is different. She loves seeing unique and interesting cases and expanding her knowledge and skill set.

Outside of work, Lisa resides with her husband, Robert, and their three pets: a bionic German shepherd named Mika who has undergone two hip replacements, a goofy and very vocal Siberian husky named Haruma, and a happy-go-lucky African grey named Isabelle. Self-proclaimed homebodies, Lisa and Robert enjoy trying different cuisines. In her spare time, Lisa also likes to read – mostly horror/thrillers.
